(WASAGA BEACH, ON) On January 1st, 2025, officers of the Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police responded to report of a robbery of an Uber driver. The incident occurred at approximately 10:16 pm on Mosley Street, near Pizza Pizza in the Town of Wasaga Beach.
A passenger entered an Uber vehicle and after a short interaction, the male suspect threatened the driver & stole the motor vehicle. The Uber driver was left at the side of the road and was able to flee without injury. No weapon was seen.
Officers of Collingwood OPP joined Huronia West in the search for the suspect and stolen vehicle. Police were able to track the vehicle to the Collingwood area. Just after midnight, the vehicle was located by Collingwood officers in the vicinity of 8th street and Walnut street.
Members of Central Region OPPs Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to the area and a canine track was conducted. The suspect was not located. The recovered stolen vehicle has been processed for evidence by the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS).
Huronia West OPPs crime unit have taken over the investigation and are following up on a possible suspect. No further details, including suspect descriptors will be released at this time.
