(LEAMINGTON, ON)- On January 12, 2025, at 1:44 a.m., a member of Leamington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol when they observed a vehicle being operated by a suspected impaired driver on Seacliff Drive East, Municipality of Leamington.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking to the driver determined that they had previously consumed alcohol. As a result, they were arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment.
Angelo BALALONG, a 31-year-old of Leamington, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:
· Operation while impaired alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Drive without proper rear light motor vehicle
· Class G1 licence holder carry front-seat passenger
· Class G1 licence holder unaccompanied by qualified driver
· Class G1 licence holder drive at unlawful hour
· Novice driver B.A.C. above zero
· Fail to surrender insurance card
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor to speak to the charges on January 28, 2025.
A 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
