(BLUEWATER, ON) Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Middlesex Centre resident with Impaired driving offences following a sobriety check at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checkpoint on January 11, 2025, in the Municipality of Bluewater, Bayfield.
At about 11:45 p.m., on Saturday, January 11, 2025, Huron County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE check on Bluewater Highway at Short Hill Road. A vehicle driver pulled up to the checkpoint and spoke with police. Officers determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving.
The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.
Kyle RUSSELL, 39 years of age from Middlesex Centre has been charged with:
Operation while Impaired alcohol and drugs,
Operation while Impaired Over 80.
The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused drivers license was suspended for a period of 90 days.
The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice Goderich on February 24, 2025.
