On Thursday January 16, 2025, at approximately 3:30pm, investigators along with 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers responded to a home in the area of Stacey Drive and Victor Drive in the City of Niagara Falls following information that a wanted person was inside a residence.

As a result, the Emergency Task Unit (ETU) and negotiators were called to the scene.

At approximately 7:30pm, the suspect was arrested without incident.

47-year-old Richard Stevens was arrested and charged with the following offence:

First Degree Murder
Stevens is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
