(LEEDS AND THOUSAND ISLANDS TOWNSHIP, ON) The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has seized illegal drugs and a loaded handgun near Gananoque.
OPP officers stopped a speeding car on Highway 401 eastbound, between Highway-137 and Gananoque, shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025. They determined that the driver was breaching release conditions related to a previous matter and arrested the individual.
A search of the vehicle located a loaded handgun which had been converted to automatic firing, as well as two prohibited ammunition magazines. They also found more than one kilogram of suspected cocaine, suspected MDMA and other suspected illegal drugs. Two other people in the vehicle were also arrested.
Mishaal KAMIL ALSHAMMIRY, age 36, Adam OLOW, age 28, and Dianna NGUYEN, age 32, all residents of Ottawa are each charged with:
Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
Making an automatic firearm
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition two counts
Occupant of a vehicle knowing there was a firearm
Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance two counts
KAMIL ALSHAMMIRY is also charged with:
Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order four counts
Failure to comply with a release order
Speeding
OLOW is additionally charged with:
Obstruct a peace officer
Personation with intent to avoid arrest
Failing to wear a seatbelt
All three of the accused were held in custody for a bail hearing today (Friday, January 17, 2025), before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.
