(LAURENTIAN HILLS, ON) A driver is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.
On February 9, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the UOV OPP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Laurentian Hills. Investigation found that the eastbound vehicle lost control and collided with the guard rails near Josie Lane. The driver was not seriously injured. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was taken into custody for further tests. Test results were more than three times the legal blood alcohol limit. Police also seized open alcohol from the vehicle.
As a result of this incident Magdalena SLOMINSKI, age 30 of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, has been charged with the following CC offences:
Operation while impaired alcohol
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke March 3, 2025.
