(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) A vehicle discovered in ditch has resulted in a driver being charged with impaired operation.
On February 3, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were proactively patrolling County Road 22 when they discovered a vehicle several meters off the shoulder of the roadway. Further investigation led to an Approved Screening Device being utilized, and the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Anik KARMIJEE, age 55 from Prince Edward County, was arrested and charged with:
Operation while impaired alcohol
Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 19, 2025. They also had their drivers license suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.
