(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people after a string of copper wire thefts and break-ins in Lanark County and the surrounding area.
The thefts began in the fall of 2024, with numerous incidents of wires being cut and removed as well as a break-in at an industrial building in Perth.
The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, working with the Lanark County Detachment and the OPP Canine unit, executed a warrant at a residence in Tay Valley Township on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Officers recovered a large amount of copper wire and copper pipes, as well as a crossbow, break and enter tools and a small amount of methamphetamine.
John PIGEON, age 34 of Tay Valley Township, has been charged with:
Possession of stolen property over $5000
Mischief under $5000
Possession of break-in instruments
Fail to comply with a probation order- two counts
Fail to comply with a release order
Fail to comply with an undertaking
Break and enter
Possession of schedule I substance
Jessica WATSON, age 22 of Lanark Highlands Township, has been charged with:
· Possession of schedule I substance
· Fail to comply with an undertaking two counts
Both accused were held for bail and were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth today (March 12, 2025).
