(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Centre Wellington Township resident criminally, stemming from a RIDE program.
On March 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were conducting proactive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road within Fergus, when they initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle to determine sobriety.
As a result of the investigation, Christopher HASSELL, a 49-year-old of Centre Wellington Township is charged under the Criminal Code with:
Unmarked cigarettes
Novice driver B.A.C. above zero
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
A 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Guelph on April 1, 2025.
