(PEMBROKE, ON) A local driver is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.
On March 13, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the UOV OPP responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and street light pole at the intersection of Angus Campbell Drive and Cockburn Crescent in the City of Pembroke. Investigation found that the vehicle was northbound on Angus Campbell Drive when it lost control and left the roadway, striking the light pole. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the pickup, was not seriously injured.
As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. Test results were more than double the legal blood alcohol limit. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the collision.
As a result of this incident Terrence James WEST, age 64 of Pembroke, has been charged with the following CC offences:
Operation while impaired alcohol
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
Dangerous operation
The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke April 7, 2025.
