(NORTH ALGONA WILBERFORCE TWP, ON) Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged the driver of a tractor involved in a fatal collision in North Algona Wilberforce (NAW) Township.
On September 26, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m. police were called to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 41 at Walsh Road involving a motorcycle and a farm tractor. The driver of the motorcycle, a 76-year-old male from Renfrew, was transported to hospital by ambulance and died a short time later. The driver of the farm tractor was not injured.
On March 18, 2025, the driver of the tractor, 64-year-old Kevin SCHOENFELDT of NAW, was charged with careless driving causing death under the Highway Traffic Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in the City of Pembroke on April 28, 2025.
The investigation was conducted with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) members.
