(Kingston, ON) A scuba diver, that went missing in the water, in the City of Kingston has been recovered.
Just after 3:00 pm on April 13, 2025 Frontenac OPP members responded to the area along Ontario Street and Lower Union Street for a scuba diver in distress on the surface of the water. Kingston Fire Rescue located the diver with their vessel and pulled him to safety. Kingston Police Force assisted to have the diver transported by Frontenac County Paramedics to hospital with minor injuries.
A second diver had initially surfaced, in the same location, but was unable to get out of the water. The diver slipped below the surface and is presumed drowned. The incident took place approximately 50 feet offshore. OPP was assisted by the Canadian Coast Guard with searching the area for the diver, until the search was called off around 11:00 pm.
On April 14, 2025, Frontenac OPP assisted by the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (OPP) searched the area where the diver was last seen. Just after 09:30 am OPP dive team located and recovered the body of the missing diver from Lake Ontario. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Chief Coroner of Ontario will continue the investigation into any possible causes of this incident. The deceased is not being identified, at this time.
