(VAL RITA HARTY, ON) A 36-year-old local resident is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop that led to a drug-impaired driving arrest.
On Monday, April 14, 2025, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call reporting a suspected breach of probation conditions. Officers located the individual driving on Highway 11 in Val Rita and conducted a traffic stop. The driver showed signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested. They were transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.
As a result, Eric MAILLE 36 years-of-age from Val Rita Harty, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired drugs
· Operation while impaired blood drug concentration
· Possession of a schedule I substance Methamphetamine
· Obstruct Peace Officer
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 12, 2025, in Kapuskasing. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
