(ATIKOKAN, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Atikokan stopped a drug impaired driver who was also breaching judicial release conditions.
On May 10, 2025, at approximately 7:00 pm, the Atikokan OPP stopped a vehicle on Hwy 11 after observing it cross the center line. The officer suspected impairment and conducted a standardized field sobriety test. The driver failed the test and was arrested. Additional investigation determined the driver was violating judicial release conditions. A drug recognition exam was completed at the Atikokan Detachment.
Belinda ROBINSON, 57-years-old, from Atikokan is charged with: impaired operation alcohol or drugs, refusing to comply with a demand, possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine), and two counts of fail to comply with a release order other than to attend court.
The accuseds driver license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The accused was held by police and has a bail hearing scheduled for May 14, 2025, in the Thunder Bay Ontario Court of Justice.
