(QUINTE WEST, ON) The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual after being alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area.
On Wednesday September 3, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m. Officers with the Quinte West OPP and the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle near Douglas Road. After a traffic stop was initiated, the vehicle fled and was stopped on Dixon Drive after the driver lost control. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot, subsequently being located and taken into custody.
Byron HOADLEY, 32 years old from Scugog Township, has been charged with the following offences:
Failure or refusal to comply with demand
Possession property obtained by crime over $5000
Possessing automobile master key
Flight from peace officer
Dangerous operation
Failure to comply with release order other then to attend court x2
Fail to comply with probation order x5
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x6
Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
Unauthorized possession of weapon
Driving while under suspension
Obstruct plate
Alter permit
Use plate not authorized for vehicle
Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville
