(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual following a traffic stop involving a vehicle towing a trailer.
On September 4th 2025, an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle speeding in a community safety zone. During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicles licence plate did not match the vehicle, and the attached trailer had been reported stolen. Further checks revealed that the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.
As a result, John Bolender, 70 years old, of Stouffville, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
No insurance
Driving while under suspension
Speeding in a community safety zone
Plate not authorized for vehicle
Fail to display two plates
No currently validated permit
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
