A Guelph man and Cambridge teen face assault charges after two security officers were attacked Saturday.
Approximately 5:35 p.m. several young people were in the food court area of Stone Road Mall with their hoods up. Security officers asked them to remove their hoods per mall policy. When they refused they were escorted out of the mall.
Once outside, one of the males pushed an officer before the others joined in, punching and kicking both security officers several times. Eventually the victims were able to detain one of the males and the others fled on foot. Responding officers saw one of the youths running from the area and he was caught following a foot pursuit.
A 22-year-old Guelph man and 16-year-old Cambridge boy are each charged with two counts of assault. The man was also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after quantities of suspected crack cocaine and cash were found on his person.
The man will appear in court November 7. The teen was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in court October 15.
The investigation is ongoing.
