(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) A proactive traffic stop by an officer led to an individual being charged with driving-related offences and drug possession.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at approximately 7:52 p.m., an officer from the Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop and initiated an investigation on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe.
After interacting with the driver, the individual was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected fentanyl.
As a result, 25-year-old Matthew ACUNA of Norfolk County was charged with the following alleged offences:
Operation while impaired alcohol and drugs,
Possession of a Schedule I substance opioid (other than heroin),
Fail to surrender licence,
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle,
Fail to surrender insurance card.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.
