(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) An individual is charged following a break and enter in Mapleton.
On February 26, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a break and enter at a residence within Mapleton Township. The suspect fled the residence prior to police arrival and was subsequently arrested on March 7, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old from Howick Township, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
Trespassing at night
Criminal harassment threatening conduct
Possession break in instruments
Failure to comply with release order other than to attend court
The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
The accuseds name is being withheld, out of concern for their well-being.
