Barrie Police officers conducting traffic enforcement on Ferndale Drive North on Thursday, April 23, 2026, arrested a motorist after observing a vehicle dangerously speeding more than double the posted limit.
Officers conducted the traffic stop north of Tiffin Street just after 2 p.m. after radar measured the vehicle travelling 105 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone. Police also learned the driver was behind the wheel with a suspended licence.
As a result, the 41-year-old man from Barrie is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act:
Stunt driving excessive speed
Speeding 105 km/h in a 50 km/h zone
Driving while under suspension
Additionally, the accused was handed a 30-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Highway speeds have no place on city streets. Speed limits arent suggestions they are the law to keep everyone safe.
